Raiders Hire Broncos Defensive Coordinator Dennis Allen as Head Coach

And for the most part the nation just went “huh?”.

The Oakland Raiders have struck a deal with Broncos defensive coordinator Dennis Allen to become their 7th head coach since 2002.  He is the latest young coach to rise up the rankings and finally get his shot at the big time.  Allen has served as a secondary coach for the New Orleans Saints, a defensive assistant/quality control coach for the Atlanta Falcons, and a secondary coach for Tulsa University (started as a Grad Assistant at Texas A&M).

We don’t know the exact details of the deal or what Allen will bring to the table other than his defensive specialties.  When you look at his resume you can see that everywhere he’s went he’s helped produce a pretty good defense, so if that’s the direction the Raiders want to go I’m sure they’re heading in the right direction.
