Long-time backup QB Charlie Batch will play in place of the injured Ben Roethlisberger this Saturday against St. Louis. Batch steps in as the #1 QB, with Dennis Dixon backing him up, Batch would be the backup had Leftwich not suffered an injury early on in the season. The Steelers are still in the playoff hunt and have a shot to take the AFC North from Baltimore down the stretch. The Steelers made the move after Ben’s ankle has been less than stellar, and was the noticeable reason why some of his throws were off last Monday night. Batch is a long-time veteran who can effectively fill in the gap while Roethlisberger sits down these last two weeks of the regular season. It’s the smartest move for them as their last two games are against the Rams and Browns, two teams that are can be handled by everyone else on the Steelers team. All Batch has to do is not turn the ball over and Pittsburgh will be okay.
